Artist's Description
Femme Osage township was the home of Daniel Boone, the great hunter. Every hill and valley within that region of the country has doubtless resounded to the crack of his unerring rifle. Here he and his family lived, having the honor of being the first Americans who settled upon the soil of Missouri.
The original cemetery started in the 1830s was around the old church. The current cemetery dates to the late 1800s and is on the hillside above the current church that was built in 1888. The cemetery has several hundred graves arranged in straight rows. The cemetery is well maintained by the church.
